A little bit about me
Hi there, I'm Jonny Bass, I'm the Craftsman Gardener at Mottisfont and I have to say that I love my job. Yes, I know it sounds cheesey but it's true! Admittedly the cold, wet and dark winter days can get you down sometimes, but the rewards you get from working outside are more than worth it in my opinion. I've been at Mottisfont since 2009 and I find it a really exciting place to work. I always wanted to work in horticulture so when I was 14 I started work in my local Garden Centre and never looked back; after finishing my A levels I went on to study Horticulture and ultimately landed myself a job with the National Trust at this beautiful estate.
Away from work I love to be outside in the fresh air, I enjoy fishing, shooting and most countryside pursuits. I love to go camping - I've just bought a hammock and it's absolutely brilliant, it's perfect for camping in the forest. I'm also a big fan of classic Volkswagen's, if I'm not out in the countryside then I can be found under the bonnet of an old VW. In any spare time that I have left I like to get my camera out and take some photos. 35mm film photography has become a real interest of mine and I like to indulge in it whenever I get the chance.
Well, that's pretty much me in a nutshell. I hope you enjoy reading my blog and feel free to comment.
